Massage: Fluff and buff treatment or does it actually have benefits?

Years before I became a Kombucha brewer I was a massage therapist and fitness trainer. I can’t tell you the number of clients I had that viewed massage as more of a fluff and buff treatment rather than one that could be very beneficial to their health. Massage is not only relaxing, but there are numerous health benefits that come with it.

Reducing Stress:

Massage reduces stress, which can be damaging to the body by throwing you into your fight or flight response. This causes inflammation in the body. People who get caught in this stress cycle are more susceptible to illness due to lack of homeostasis in the body(your body’s natural state of balance). Regular massages calm the nervous system by lowering the blood pressure and can get you back on the right track.

Increased Circulation:

The circulatory system is so important. It’s comprised of both the cardiovascular system and the lymphatic system. The cardiovascular system pumps your blood throughout your body nourishing it and the lymphatic system carries away the toxins and waste. When this important body system isn’t working properly it causes stress on the heart forcing it to work harder, which can lead to stroke, heart attack, diabetes, muscles pain and many other negative symptoms. Regular massages can help increase your circulation.

Pain Management:

Whether you’re sitting at a desk all day long, doing regular heavy duty lifting or suffer from fibromyalgia, muscle pain can make everyday life seems more difficult. Some of the side effects of muscle pain include headaches, depression, decreased mobility and insomnia to name a few. Regular massage can help reduce or eliminate muscle pain.

Better Mood:

Massage releases endorphins in the body, which enhances your mood. This is the same as when we do vigorous exercise. Many of you have heard of the “Runner’s High”, that is referring to the release of endorphins that comes from it.

Boosts Immune Function:

Because massage helps us manage stress, lowers blood pressure, reduces inflammation, boosts our mood, helps us sleep, boosts our energy and increases our circulatory system, it helps bring our bodies back into a more balanced state, which in turn boosts our immune functions.

I’ve shared with you the benefits of how regular massage can improve your health and wellbeing, so go book yours today!
