Kombucha FAQ's
Kombucha
What is kombucha?
Kombucha is a probiotic tea drink, made naturally fizzy through a natural fermentation process that leaves it bubbling with beneficial bacteria, yeasts and microbes. Consider it a fresh alternative to a soft drink, containing less sugar and more gut-loving probiotics.
Does Good Buzz kombucha contain beneficial yeasts and bacteria?
Yes! Fermented by a good-natured colony of live bacteria and yeast, Good Buzz organic BioGro-certified kombucha is fizzing with live cultures to support a healthy digestive system.
How is Good Buzz Kombucha brewed?
Good Buzz Kombucha is fermented traditionally, taking place with a symbiotic culture, (or SCOBY as favourably known) combined in a lightly sweetened tea brew.
Our brewing process spans two weeks, allowing ample time for the bacteria to get cozy with natural sugars, slowly converting them into organic acids. We regularly test our kombucha until it achieves our iconic, fizzy tang.
How much kombucha is too much kombucha? Is there a daily limit?
There’s no hard limit, however we are all different and so are our digestive systems and our unique blend of gut bacteria. It’s best to ease in gently and start with half a bottle, as too much too soon can really get your digestive system ‘moving’.
Does kombucha contain alcohol?
All traditionally brewed kombucha contains a small amount of alcohol due to the natural fermentation process. In NZ, the limit for a brewed soft drink available for sale to all ages is 1.15% ABV, we ensure Good Buzz Kombucha stays below this limit for the duration of it’s shelf life.
Does Good Buzz Kombucha need to be kept in the fridge?
Our Kombucha is alive in the bottle and continues to ferment in warmer temperatures, so it’s best kept in the fridge to keep the fizz just right. However, keeping Good Buzz Kombucha out of the fridge will not cause the product to change quickly, so if it does end up out of the fridge for a few days, it’s no problem.
We store the Kombucha in chillers at Good Buzz HQ and recommend storing Good Buzz chilled at home too to ensure you get the best out of your booch!
Is Good Buzz Kombucha dairy free, gluten free and vegan?
Yes, yes and yes. Good Buzz Kombucha is certified as a gluten-free and vegan product.
Is Good Buzz Kombucha pasteurised?
Nope. We like to keep our booch raw so the friendly yeasts and bacteria can thrive.
